  1. Plato and the Platonic problem. A short biography of Plato. The Platonic Academy. Platonic writing and the myth of writing in Phaedrus.
  2. The Platonic theory of ideas. The distinction between sense and cognition. Imitation and participation. The three categories of ideas. The correspondence of ideas to the parts of the soul and the constitution. The paths to the knowledge of Ideas. The Platonic Ideas and the relativism of the Sophists. The late Plato.

Presenter: Gerasimos Georgatos, graduate of the Philosophy Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with postgraduate studies in Paris and extensive experience in seminars on ancient Greek and modern philosophy.
